Lap Desk & Wrist Rest – Great for Cafe Writing and Meeting Sauciers

I sat on a long couch typing down thoughts about coffee and biscotti. My coffee was Colombian and my biscotti was Italian, and my thoughts were purely American.

My lap desk suited my efforts, holding my laptop and my mouse well. In my phone slot was the business card of a class that might teach me to “Master the Five French Mother Sauces.” It said, “Chef Beaumont.”

It was late in the afternoon, and I thought, save one overworked, under-tipped barista, I was alone. My lap desk was beige, contrasting the couch. It rested softly as I leaned comfortably back, with the wrist rest just as soft and gentle. My own laptop is 13.4 inches, and there was room for a larger device.

I had bought it only the week before and found it an inexpensive, easy-to-clean tool for my long cafe days. It held my work at the angle I needed while never losing its secure place.

Then the bells (the ones that tinkle when the shop door opens) rang. A simply dressed woman came through and ordered an espresso.

Though there were three tables and another couch, she sat on the edge of mine.

She looked at my screen. “Oh, you are a writer?”

“I am,” I replied, and introduced myself.

“Élodie,” she returned. She noticed the card. “You are bold to learn the art of liaison.”

I smiled, confused, having never learned French.

“I am Chef Élodie Beaumont,” she said, smiling too. “But everyone calls me Nancy the Saucier.”

May your “Lap Desk with Wrist Rest, Mouse Pad, and Phone Holder” serve your times typing and considering French sauces.
